Now that all of the quilted panels were cut and prepared, it was time for the most exciting step — turning them into the finished Tamarac Jacket. This stage pulls everything together and really shows off the texture and piecing in this wearable art piece.

With a background in fashion, costume design, and nursing education, I’ve taught sewing to refugee mothers in Clarkston, led outreach projects in Sierra Leone, and even created garments for movies and television.
